夏コミ新刊ヨーロッパのシャーマン戦車に続く第二弾です。シャーマン戦車と言えば、空前の大量生産が行われ、アメリカだけでなくイギリスその他連合軍の標準戦車でした。生産を急ぐため同時に多種多様なバリエーションが作られその理解は困難(笑)。やはり本書ではアメリカ軍のシャーマン戦車をその主要な戦いの場となったヨーロッパに訪ね歩き、豊富なバリエーションを多数の写真であますとこなく伝えるよう頑張りました。第一巻では最初のM4からM4A2までを収録いたしましたが、第二巻ではそれに続くM4A3から、DDやクラブのような異形型、さらには戦後イスラエルで改造されたタイプまで収録してあります。なお今回も特別にシャーマンといえばこの方、日本のシャーマン研究の第一人者丹羽先生にご監修いただきました。この場を借りて御礼申し上げます。さあ貴方もいっしょにシャーマン沼に嵌りましょう。
