フィンランド軍は冬戦争、継続戦争を通じてソ連軍から捕獲した戦車を多数使用しましたが、その中でも最強の戦車のひとつがKV-1重戦車でした。KV-1は第二次世界大戦でソ連軍が開発、配備させた重戦車ですが、その怪物ぶりは、自分たちの戦車が世界一と疑わなかったドイツ軍が、戦場で出くわしてびっくりしたことでも知られます。今回まとめたのはKV-1重戦車の中でも、特徴的な増加装甲を取り付けたKV-1Eエクラナミです。これは原型でも十分厚かったKV-1の装甲に、さらに増加装甲を施したアップグレードバージョン。巨大なボルトで止められた増加装甲が芽をひきます。実はこのKV-1Eの実車は、フィンランドにしか残っていないのです。その貴重なKV-1Eをパロラ戦車博物館に取材し、車体、砲塔の上から下、そして裏側まで、さらには許可を得て内部も撮影しました。また合わせてフィンランド軍公式写真より戦場のKV-1Eの写真を多数ピックアップ。KV-1Eを知るため最高の写真集と言えるでしょう。
