Service Fee Update & Additional Service Options
Why we are updating our service fees now
Since our launch in 2014, Buy Doujinshi has worked hard to keep our service fees unchanged, even during major challenges like the yen devaluation and the COVID-19 pandemic.
For years, we had planned a fee review, but when the pandemic began, shipping and other costs skyrocketed. We decided not to increase our fees during that time to support our customers, even though operational costs rose significantly.
When things began returning to normal, we considered adjusting our rates, but our website was in poor shape. We felt it would be unfair to raise prices without first offering a better platform and experience.
A small team with a big mission
Until recently, our team was just two people: the admin (development, customer service, and order processing) and my friend handling shipping and accounting. Eventually, we welcomed a third member to help with communication and order organization.
The new version of our site has been in development for over 3 years. Most of the work had to be rewritten from scratch due to lack of time in the past… but now it’s ready, and we can finally focus on adding new features and refining the service.
The new service fees (effective immediately)
Starting now, our service fee will be:
- Base Fee: ¥600 per order
- + 12% of the subtotal (item price + domestic shipping)
What’s included in the service fee?
- Purchasing your item on your behalf
- Order management and store follow-up
- Japanese address handling and domestic delivery
- Basic quality control & updates via email
